Mets to designate former All-Star Matt Harvey for assignment

The Matt Harvey saga has taken another interesting turn in NY. In 2015, fresh off Tommy John Surgery, he posted a 2.71 ERA with 188 strikeouts in 189 innings, then led the Mets to their first NL pennant in 15 years. But after Harvey underwent a second surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome - a procedure that few players fully recover from - his pitching was never the same. In the three seasons since he choked away said World Series game, Harvey has gone 9-19 with zero complete games and a 5.93 ERA through 212 innings.

"I think there are a lot of issues that come with him and his experience in NY, that perhaps a change of scenery will help", Alderson concluded.
