On a historic day in American politics, President Donald Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort was taken to jail Friday afternoon ahead of his trial in the case brought against him by special counsel Robert Mueller.
U.S. District Judge Amy Jackson revoked Manafort's bail.
The former Trump campaign manager, 69, was accused of sending WhatsApp messages to potential witnesses in Robert Mueller's probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election, so a judge made a decision to jail him to stop this happening again.
Besides Mr Manafort, they include Michael Flynn, the president's former national security adviser; Rick Gates, a former deputy campaign chair; and George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser.
Trump has sought to distance his campaign and himself from Manafort.

Mr Manafort's trial on charges of money laundering and illegal lobbying is due to begin in September. Gates came on board with Manafort and stayed for the duration of the campaign, later serving as deputy chairman for Trump's inaugural committee and then starting a pro-Trump PAC.
Mueller claims that between February 23 and April of this year, Manafort and Kilimnik tried to persuade witnesses with "intent to influence, delay, and prevent the testimony of any person in an official proceeding".
Trump has denounced the Mueller probe as a political "witch hunt" and denied there was any collusion with Russian Federation by members of his election campaign.
"I have no appetite for this", she said.
Manafort's business partner Rick Gates, who was also charged with a slew of federal crimes earlier this year, had entered a plea deal with the Special Counsel and is working with prosecutors on the Russian Federation investigation.

Manafort's attorneys claim that Mueller hasn't provided them with a witness list so that they don't know whom Manafort should be forbidden to contact.
Konstantin Kilimnik was recently and newly named along with Manafort in the attempted witness tampering indictment. Andres said the witness told Manafort that he couldn't talk and hung up. Mueller's office has described Kilimnik as a Russian intelligence asset who was active through the 2016 election.
