Knight's plea, which was unveiled in a Los Angeles courtroom, came just days before he was to stand trial for the death of 55-year-old Terry Carter, who was run down outside an LA restaurant in 2015 following a dispute over the movie Straight Outta Compton.

Although Knight reportedly counted Carter as a friend, prosecutors contended the collision was deliberate.

The incident occurred in January 2015.

Pak court orders release of Nawaz Sharif, daughter; suspends jail term
Sharif faced two more cases before the anti-graft tribunal and has been banned for life from public office. The father and daughter returned home a week later and were taken to prison to serve their sentences.

There was video of the incident that shows a truck driven by Knight. The trial was speculated to begin on October 1st and would have involved unusually tight security, including the non-publication of a witness list before proceedings began, and identity suppression of some of the witnesses called.

Suge Knight agrees to 28-years in prison in death of friend. Knight allegedly clipped Sloan with his pickup truck and fatally ran over Carter.

As part of the agreement the murder charges against him will be dismissed by prosecutors, along with the separate criminal cases charging him with robbery and making criminal threats. Sloan has denied he and Carter were carrying arms.

Juventus star Ronaldo could avoid extended ban after Valencia red
Valencia's last game in the Champions League was Gary Neville's first as manager and there have been four more in charge since. Bale added the second after a brilliant Luka Modric pass, with the Welshman lashing home brutally to double the score.

On Thursday, while Coen read legal language about the plea and told Knight he was subject to deportation if he was not a citizen, Knight said "ICE is coming to get me?" to a smattering of laughs.

Knight, 53, was a key player in the gangster rap scene that flourished in the 1990s, and his label once listed Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg among its artists. The 28 years sentence is extraordinarily stiff for a guilty plea for manslaughter. In 1997, he was sentenced to jail for violating that probation after participating in an altercation in Las Vegas that culminated hours later in the fatal shooting of Tupac Shakur while he rode in Knight's vehicle.
