Trump said West is a friend and a "different kind of a guy" whose big following in the African-American community helped boost his approval ratings. It was easy to believe from the video, judging by his animated motions while sitting across from President Trump.

"It was from the soul. He might not have thought he'd have a insane mother-f***** like [me]". Mr. Trump earlier in the week said Chicago should strongly consider implementing a stop-and-frisk program like the one New York City had. "We'll get rid of Air Force One", Trump responded.

"I love this guy right here", he said Thursday, embracing Trump while wearing the president's trademark red "Make America Great Again" ball cap.

As well as a hand full of reporters, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and senior advisor, was also in attendance, and daughter Ivanka will be joining them for lunch. The president said the session "was just set up to be a lunch of two people I like".

"A liberal will try to control a Black person through the concept of racism because they know that we're a very proud, emotional people", 'Ye explained.

In an extraordinary, mostly uninterrupted rant, West said that he was recently diagnosed as being bipolar, but he insisted the diagnosis was wrong and that he was merely sleep-deprived.

"We need prototypes so we can start working again", he said.

West said he wanted to "abolish the trap door called the 13th Amendment", because, he said, when the amendment was written it was illegal for blacks to read.

President Trump typically isn't one to be upstaged - but that wasn't the case Thursday when rapper Kanye West launched into a monologue across from him in the Oval Office, leaving even Mr. Trump almost speechless.

The 41-year-old music star also mused about why Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election in 2016.

West asked Trump to pardon Larry Hoover, the alleged founder of a notorious Chicago street gang who's serving six life sentences in a federal supermax prison in Colorado.

At one point during his ten minutes of remarks, West said, "Time is a myth".
