Trump calls Elizabeth Warren ‘total fraud,’ offers to give DNA test himself

"Now that her claims of being of Indian heritage have turned out to be a scam and a lie, Elizabeth Warren should apologize for perpetrating this fraud against the American Public".

Warren on Monday published the results of a DNA test as a rebuttal to President Donald Trump, who has long mocked her questionable ancestral claims by referring to her as "Pocahontas". While the findings align with the Oklahoma native's family lore that that her great-great-great-grandmother was at least partially Native American, a 2014 study found that the average European American (as opposed to simply the average American, as Trump stated) was 0.18 percent Native American.

Trump also claimed that Warren would not have been hired as a Harvard law professor if not for claiming to be a "person of color".

"She only claimed it when she was in her late 30s and beginning to climb the law professor ladder from the University of Texas to Harvard", he explained.

Later Monday, Trump said he did not owe Warren the money, saying that was contingent on her winning the nomination. Elizabeth Warren, nor does he seem in any way inclined to break with his longstanding tradition of backing away from a debt. Trump has dubbed her "Pocahontas" for months and she has been accused of claiming minority status to advance her career.

Huntsman then noted the Cherokee nation's rebuke of Warren, but that talking point didn't sit well with Whoopi Goldberg, who quickly jumped in, telling her colleague, "No, don't twist this". Warren's meticulously choreographed DNA rollout doesn't prove that she is a proud Cherokee-American, as Cherokee activists and tribal authorities have adamantly pointed out. These and other fabulations - and Warren's defensive doubling-down when they were reported - became an issue in her US Senate race in 2012.

She also said she took the test and released the results because she has nothing to hide, calling out Trump for hiding his tax returns.

Fondacaro wrote that ABC treated the DNA test as a "boon" for Warren's likely 2020 campaign, while CBS's "Evening News" barely covered the story. The analysis of Warren's DNA, which she submitted to Stanford geneticist Carlos Bustamante, suggests that there was a Native American in her family tree somewhere between 6 and 10 generations ago.
