13 dead, 50 wounded in explosion at Russia's Crimean college

The attack took place at a college in the Black Sea region of Crimea on Wednesday when at least one attacker set off a bomb in the cafeteria and went through the building shooting at random, officials said.

Witnesses, however, reported that victims were being killed by gunfire. He said investigators were looking into the circumstances of the attack and the motive of the attacker.

At a news conference in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said investigators were working to determine a motive for the attack. Officials later found a second explosive device and destroyed it.

Roslyakov enrolled at the college in 2015, according to its website.

Russia's Investigative Committee said the attack was carried out by 18-year-old student Vladislav Roslyakov, who was captured on security camera footage carrying a gun in the technical college in Kerch and whose body was later found with gunshot wounds.

Crimean leader Sergei Aksyonov said on Facebook he had gone to the scene and "all the necessary services are working at the scene of the incident". Gavrilov said he looked out and saw a young man with a rifle firing at people.

He said police arrived about 10 minutes later to evacuate people from the college and he saw dead bodies on the floor and charred walls.

According to the RIA Novosti agency, security forces raided Roslyakov's parents' home following the killings.

"I want to express condolences to the relatives of the dead and express the hope that the injured recover as quickly as possible", the president said, calling for a minute's silence to mourn the victims.
