Nintendo Switch Just Outsold Gamecube's Lifetime Sales

Nintendo Switch Surpasses GameCube, But …

"Nintendo Switch hardware continued to be quite popular, reaching 5.07 million units sold" in the April-September period, it said. In total, the device has seen almost 1,000 releases so far this year, up from about 400 in 2017, according to fan site Perfectly Nintendo. Nintendo was also proud to announce that Mario Tennis Aces has sold 2.16 million copies since launch.

Despite that, the Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo chief executive Shuntaro Furukawa said during a press conference that the Switch's momentum is in line with what the company expected and that it still believes it can hit its goal of 20 million Switch sold during this fiscal year. Those strong sales continue and the latest victim is Nintendo's sixth-generation games console, the GameCube. First up, we have Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee and Let's Go, Pikachu! on November 16, which is followed on December 7 by the system seller that is Super Smash Bros. "The holiday season battle begins now".

Cardi B and Nicki Minaj call a truce in their ongoing feud
Yeah I had to decline it because I'm doing a lot of pop records so I can't over exaggerate myself but that came to me first. But I'm sick and exhausted of that back and forth s***.

Some other interesting nuggets of information in Nintendo's October 30 earnings release involved software sales for some of their first party titles.

The Kyoto-based company reported operating profit of 30.9 billion yen ($274 million) during the July-September quarter, below analyst estimates for 37.9 billion yen. Its newest mobile title Dragalia Lost was released on September 27, resulting in minimal contribution to the quarter. Mobile has yet to become a meaningful segment of revenue, but the strength of Nintendo Switch and first party software sales are covering up for the weakness in the company's smartphone division.

While both the Pokemon and Smash franchises have historically sold well on previous generation systems, they're both significantly outsold by Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise.
