President Donald Trump on Monday (Dec 3) called for a "full and complete" sentence for his former lawyer Michael Cohen, accusing him of lying about Trump's business dealings with Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential campaign to get reduced jail time.
This week, prosecutors are also scheduled to file several new documents in court about some of the most important players in the investigation: the former national security adviser Michael Flynn, the former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and the former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.
Cohen, who is cooperating with a federal probe into whether Trump's campaign worked with Russian Federation to sway the election, is scheduled to be sentenced on December 12 after pleading guilty to tax evasion, making false statements to a bank, campaign finance violations, and lying to Congress.
His revelation in court that Trump and his family were kept informed about contacts over building a Trump Tower in Moscow has ratcheted up the pressure from the investigation on the USA president.
Syria's air defences intercept suspected Israeli missiles
Another missile hit the area of Harfa, where there is a Syrian military base, the Britain-based monitor said. The Israeli statement neither confirmed nor denied the reports about the air attack in Syria.
Flynn admitted in his plea that he spoke to the Russians at the direction of Trump transition team officials.
When confronted by FBI agents about the conversations, court papers say Flynn made "material false statements and omissions", which impeded what was then an FBI counterintelligence investigation. While much of the memo and its accompanying addendum were either redacted or based on information already made public, two things were made perfectly clear: 1) Mueller's Russian Federation probe was just one of "several" investigations Flynn helped with, and 2) Mueller is very happy with Flynn right now. Flynn was sacked from the White House on February 13, 2017, after he misled Trump administration officials, including Vice President Pence, on his communications.
The situation reportedly has shaken Trump, who during a G-20 summit appeared reluctant to take reporters' questions as he met with other world leaders. Stone has also waged a public campaign against Mueller.
To date, there have been scant details from Mueller's team about the extent of Flynn's cooperation, including how many times he was interviewed, what he disclosed and whether he fully cooperated to their satisfaction.
He has instead spent considerable time with his family and worked to position himself for a post-conviction career.
Urban Meyer "Retires" At Ohio State
However, his time on the sidelines is ending on January 1, 2019, after he coaches the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl . Day had the advantage of being at Ohio State already, but that also shouldn't disqualify him from the job.
The president's critics contend such statements about individuals who refuse to testify against him or give up potentially damaging information are signs he might pardon them, should they face federal charges.
Prosecutors on Tuesday filed a sentencing memorandum in the case of Flynn, who pleaded guilty a year ago to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding conversations about sanctions with the Russian ambassador.
Mr Flynn's short tenure as Mr Trump's national security adviser ended in February 2017 after just 23 days.
As part of his plea, Flynn also admitted to lying about Turkish lobbying and research work.
Prince Charles will attend George H.W. Bush’s funeral
Many banks and other businesses also will shut down, and government buildings are flying flags at half-staff until December 30. There will be a motorcade that transports Bush to Washington National Cathedral for a state funeral.
