In addition to disrupting 911 services, the CenturyLink outage also caused outages of Verizon network services in at least two states, New Mexico and Montana.

According to the company, the outage began early on Thursday and has impacted states from NY to California.

"We continue to make good progress with our recovery efforts and we are working tirelessly until restoration is complete", CenturyLink said.

Many CenturyLink customers in east Idaho say their internet service had been restored Friday but thousands of users across the country are still reporting that services are down and not working.

At the Parker County Sherriff's Office shortly after 10 a.m., some 911 calls were coming through and others weren't. The mobile phone alert, which was also mistakenly sent to people in OR, urged people to call a number with a 360 area code.
