Jayme's grandfather Robert Naiberg reiterated Saturday that the family had no connection with Patterson and didn't know him.
The discovery Thursday of Jayme "does provide hope for those who are still looking", said Alison Feigh, director of the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center.
"It's a bad feeling when you don't know where your kid is but I don't know how I would react if I was to have mine walk through that door". Her captor was not at home when she managed to flee, Mr Fitzgerald said. "Did he see her somewhere?"
The news that Jayme was safe set off joy and relief in Barron, which has a population of 3300.
"My legs started to shake".
Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald gave an update Saturday, calling the case still "very active".
Roseanna Forcum and her friend, 21-year-old April Nicole Geyer, disappeared after attending a party in St. Paul in mid-August 1998.
Wisconsin Teen Missing For Months Since Parents’ Murder Found Alive, Police Say
Jayme's aunt Sue Allard told Minnesota newspaper the Star Tribune that she could barely express her joy after learning the news. The Sheriff's Department said on its Facebook page a suspect was taken into custody, but has no further details.
Jayme told one of the neighbours in Gordon who took her in that she had walked away from a cabin where she had been held captive. "She did not talk about why or how".
"The suspect was out looking for her when law enforcement made contact with him", Fitzgerald told a news conference, adding police were not seeking any other suspects in the case at this time.
On Thursday, Jayme escaped the rural home where she was being held. She also said, Jayme was next to her all night and that it was a "great feeling to have her home".
"Everybody has been praying for her and I think no matter where you go it's always a little chatter", said Jim Helman, who works at Tru Value. "Believe me, so are we".
"Jayme is talking. She communicated with our team up there", Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said on Friday. "The shotgun was also used ... to shoot open the door at the Closs home on the night of the incident".
A sign outside Barron City Hall celebrates Closs' return.
Jayme has been described as "medically cleared", although Sheriff Fitzgerald was unable to comment on whether the youngster had endured any abuse while being held captive.
Ms Nutter said Jayme was skinny, dirty and wearing shoes too large for her feet. No one pressed her to talk, he said, adding that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and doctors advised them to let her speak when she's ready. Police are still investigating and say 'she is doing as well as circumstances allow'.
Arsenal Man To Become 2nd Highest-Paid Juventus Star Behind Cristiano

Patterson is scheduled to go to court Monday where he is expected to be formally charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of kidnapping. With those charges will come a criminal complaint that could reveal more details.
Patterson, who was unemployed, remained largely an enigma Saturday.
He may have worked at another business in Barron but that hasn't been confirmed, the sheriff said.
About three years ago, Patterson worked at the Jennie-O Turkey Store plant in Barron - where Jayme's parents were employed - and then quit, saying he was moving, company President Steve Lykken said.
Officials said Patterson had planned his actions and prepared for kidnapping the teen.
He graduated from the Northwood School District in Minong, Wis. Patterson's parents divorced in 2007, court records show.
"He seemed like a quiet kid", she said.
"Once I was rescued and I got home with my family, I thought I could get back and go back to where I left off, and it took me a long time to realize that was just not possible".
This is the real Manchester United: De Gea
Defending is not my best attribute. "He's the one who made those runs and created a lot of chances, he scored a lot of goals". We knew it would be very hard , we knew we could hurt them on the counter.
