Last week Vodafone, one of the world's biggest mobile phone companies, said it would stop using Huawei gear in its core networks.

The case is a further sign that wider strategic tensions between the world's two largest economies will persist even if they reach a deal to end a months-long trade war that is starting to hit global growth and company earnings. "It lies with the CCP, it lies with Xi Jinping". The indictment claims Huawei's employees took measurements of the robot and secretly snapped photos, which were then sent to a Huawei's engineers in China through encrypted email addresses, all in an effort to build its own phone-testing robots.

Beijing strongly protested Washington's extradition request of Huawei Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou and demanded "objective" treatment for Chinese enterprises.

The allegations by the United States government comes at a sensitive time, as negotiations are underway to end the damaging trade war between the two countries.

A hearing is tentatively set for Monday - six days before the Rams meet the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in Atlanta. There appears to be no dispute that a penalty should have been called.

Since Meng - Huawei's chief financial officer - was arrested in Canada on 1 December after a USA request, the company has struggled to convince the world its equipment won't be used for espionage. This, and the arrest of an employee in Poland on a separate case regarding spying for China has put the company firmly in the dock.

China detained two Canadians shortly after Meng's arrest in an apparent attempt to pressure Canada to free her.

The Chinese media has a word of caution for the single-party communist government in Beijing over Huawei crisis with the U.S.

On Tuesday, Jobs, Trade and Technology Minister Bruce Ralston wasn't available for an interview, but in an emailed statement said staff in B.C.'s four trade offices in China "continue to support trade and investment activities in this important market".

Pep Guardiola's men are the only team to beat Liverpool this season while they themselves have suffered three defeats. It's hard to buy top, top players at a good price. "We want to go through and we want to play the later stages".

The indictments, however, are a direct attack on Huawei's credibility.

The company is also charged in a separate case with stealing trade secrets from T-Mobile, according to federal prosecutors. In 2014, Huawei came under fire for stealing T-Mobile's internal operations through robot applications. When T-Mobile found out, Huawei defended itself by saying the employees were "rogue actors".

Trump said in December he could intervene in Meng's case if it would serve U.S. national security interests or help close a trade deal with China. But the indictment shows the matter is deeper, it's about the very ethos of the company. That followed the detention in Canada of the Huawei founder's daughter - a top company official who was named in one of the US indictments, and who is now awaiting possible extradition to the US Huawei has denied wrongdoing.

It's not an easy choice. The indictment escalated the pressure on the Chinese company, which is increasingly being firewalled by many countries.

The intelligence community's annual Worldwide Threat Assessment report released Tuesday alleges that Beijing will target important U.S. technology sectors for espionage and theft whenever it can not easily develop an important technology itself.
