English Premier League match report Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United 02 February 2019

Mauricio Pochettino insists he will not be cheering on Arsenal when Tottenham's bitter rivals travel to Manchester City on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur's USA striker Clint Dempsey (L) celebrates scoring his late equalising goal during the English Premier League football match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at White Hart Lane in London on January 20, 2013.

Just when it looked like Spurs might register their first draw this season, Son fired an 83rd-minute shot from outside the area which somehow crept under goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to put them four points behind Liverpool who play on Monday.

"I said in the last press conference not always my idea is the same as the club's or the chairman's or the people that are in the club", Pochettino told the Express ahead of Spurs' 1-0 narrow win over Newcastle.

Pope Francis has become the first pope in history to visit the Arabian Peninsula, the birthplace of Islam. Outside the stadium, a small group of people waved a sign reading: "We the Catholics of Yemen love you".

Pochettino is still under contract at Tottenham and Rooney's comments will only serve to further destabilise the Argentine's situation in north London.

"I want to watch the game but I am not going to be part of one side or another. With six points we have had a great week", Son said. Newcastle were very organised, playing so deep and not giving us too much space - but the positional game was good.

But a string of fine results from interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has won eight out of his nine games in charge going into today's game at Leicester, means the Norwegian is now understood to be Old Trafford chief's preferred option.

"He works so hard, he pushes and never gives up - he tries, tries, tries, tries", Pochettino said.

"We're second, and don't need to convince ourselves about our potential or capacity to win". We believe in ourselves.

Pochettino, whose side failed to add to their squad for the second transfer window running, is daring to dream of overhauling Liverpool and Manchester City, though applied his usual cautionary note. "I promise we are going to win or lose with one or another".

"But the belief was fantastic and we tried to find a different way to play, with Fernando (Llorente), trying to play more direct, and in the end, Sonny scored and the players deserve a lot of praise. We will see what happens in the future".
