Janice Freeman, who competed on "The Voice" in 2017, has died, her representative confirmed to ET on Sunday.

Freeman's family told TMZ she started having trouble breathing at her home in West Covina, California. Freeman was pronounced dead at the local hospital at around 5:30pm. She later died due to an apparent blood clot that traveled to her heart.

On Season 13 of "The Voice", Freeman was known for her soaring, powerful vocals, as well as for the health issues she had overcome to get to the stage.

His father was killed during a USA military raid in May 2011 on the secret complex where he had been living in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

In January of 2018, Freeman explained on her Instagram story how Cyrus had covered six months' worth of rent for her. Janice finished in 11th place on the show, and Miley was devastated when Janice was eliminated from the competition, posting pictures and captions dedicated to the singer.

Jennifer Hudson posted a clip of that moment on Instagram on Sunday.

While Freeman was only 33 years old, she had already faced and beaten incredible odds in her life before even appearing on The Voice. She was just 33 years old. "My heart and prayers go out to [her] daughter and family".

With Freeman's passing hitting headlines, Cyrus took to social media to comment on the news. According to her manager, the singer had been battling bronchitis and lupus. Her final performance as a competitor was a rendition of "Shine" as originally performed by Collective Soul.

Cyrus posted a tribute to Freeman on her Instagram story, with an image of a rainbow and the words, "This represents you perfectly".
